Breast Asymmetry

Breasts Asymmetry addresses differences between sizes, shape and position of the breast.

Breast asymmetry is more common than you think. In fact, it is fair to say that no-one’s body, whether it be their chest, or even their face, is entirely symmetrical. There is significant variation in the degree of size discrepancy that can occur and there are a number of causes of breast asymmetry. Both the cause of the breast asymmetry and the extent of the asymmetry determine the best way for the asymmetry to be addressed.

Breasts can differ in a number of ways including, position on the chest, volume and size and degree of ptosis (degree of sagging). To address asymmetry, the plastic surgeon may use any combination of breast reduction surgery, breast lift surgery, breast augmentation surgery, nipple reposition surgery and in some cases fat grafting.

Prior to your initial consultation, spend some time thinking about what you would like your breasts to look like if you were to have any surgery to correct asymmetry – considering both size and shape. Then you and your surgeon can spend time working out how to achieve your goals.
