A RICH HISTORY

Bishopscourt

Sandhurst Plastic Surgery and Dermatology is located in Bishopscourt, a significant landmark in the town of Bendigo.

Set on half an acre of gardens, Bishopscourt is a grand Victorian mansion that was originally built as a private residence and surgery in 1876.

It was built for Dr Paul MacGillivray, the Resident Medical Officer at Bendigo Hospital at the time. In 1919, it was purchased by Mrs George Lansell and donated to the Anglican Church in memory of her two nephews who had been killed in the Great War (WWI). After some alterations, Bishop Donald Baker, the new Bishop of The Anglican Church moved in. The Anglican Church owned the property until December 1999. As there was no information on the original name, the name it was given in 1920 — Bishopscourt stuck.

In recent years, the building has been used as a loved home and successful Bed & Breakfast. When it was sold in 2021, it boasted 7 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, 5 living areas, a substantial wine cellar, a carriage room, the original stables and a croquet lawn.

Bishopscourt is now home to Sandhurst Plastic Surgery and Dermatology.
