Work Place Injuries

In Australia, work place hand injuries account for a significant proportion of lost work hours. We are fortunate enough, however, to have a system whereby workers suffering an injury during the course of their employment can receive specialist care to help them get back to work as soon as possible.

The management of a workplace hand injury involves input from the GP, the plastic surgeon, a hand therapist and a rehabilitation coordinator. In all cases, the goal should be restoration of function and return to work as soon as possible with minimal impact on the patient’s quality of life. Generally, once a patient is deemed fit to do so, a return to work plan will be put in place to enable them to return to light, or modified, duties at work

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
