Breast Reduction & Breast Lift
Breast reduction surgery and breast lift surgery come under the banner of breast rejuvenation. In reality, both breast reduction and breast lift surgery are part of the same spectrum. To a certain extent any individual patient's procedure will have aspects of both, with the shape of their breasts prior to the procedure dictating which is required more, a breast lift or a breast reduction.
The factors that are considered prior to breast reduction, breast lift or breast rejuvenation are: breast volume, breast projection, nipple height and skin quality. Your plastic surgeon will discuss each of these aspects with you and together we will decide upon the breast rejuvenation procedure that best suits your needs.
If you are doing research prior to coming to see your surgeon, our advice is to first consider what you are trying to achieve from breast surgery. Try to avoid reading about specific procedures. You may talk yourself into wanting a particular procedure because of a single aspect of that procedure, such as scar length or position. In reality, this may be the wrong procedure to achieve what it is you are after. The best thing to do, is to look at your own breasts thinking about the above factors, then think about what you would like your breasts to look like. Be upfront with your plastic surgeon about what you would like from the start, that way between the two of you, a plan can be formulated to get the best result possible from your breast surgery.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
